Our Story
Alaswinew is the anglicized spelling of the Mi’kmaq word Ala’suinu which means traveller. As a veterinary locum from a small First Nations community, it was fitting and exactly what I wanted as the name of my business.

The dog drawing shown in the logo is my smooth collie named Cody. He’s been by my side throughout vet school, the duration of my career, and as I started my family and raised my young children. He’s been and continues to be, an important part of our family. Incorporating him into my logo is my tribute to him for being a good boy for the last 10 years.
